Valkyria : the first distilled Swedish absinthe

Over at Lindesber, Sweden, Göran Bauerle and Henrik Larsson work inside the walls of a church where is installed the Sankta Annas Bränneri distillery (source : absinthes.com). They decided to produce a first quality distilled Swedish absinthe, which they branded Valkyria. “Our mission is to recreate history, not rewrite it”

Behind the latest evolutions of the French law regarding absinthe, there is a name often quoted. Even though he is much more known for being the creator of one of the most acclaimed absinthes line, namely the Jade line, Theodore A. Breaux often takes part in scientific, educative and legal ventures in the interest of the green fairy. He accepted to answer our questions following the publication of an amendment to a French law proposal that would lead to the repeal of the 1915 ban on absinthe in France.

Absinthe will soon be legal again in France

France is a very peculiar case in terms of absinthe-related legislation: it is one of the the only countries, with the United States, where, while the nature of the product has been authorized for years now, selling it under the name “absinthe” is still prohibited. The law stating this said prohibition could well be soon repealed.
